Moving house is a collection of tiny deadlines wearing one large cardboard costume. A week-by-week plan keeps utilities, keys, cleaning and address changes from all demanding attention on the same afternoon.

Adjust the timeline to your lease or settlement date. Check current rental, notice and condition-report requirements with the relevant state or territory authority before acting.

Four to six weeks before: confirm dates and responsibilities

Put the old-property handover, new-property access and moving date into one calendar. Read your agreement and clarify required notice, cleaning, keys and inspections. Do not assume the dates overlap.
